Description
This circa 1900 large antique brooch features Cameo carved into Bullmouth Shell, mounted on yellow coloured metal. The carving depicts a lady’s profile and is finely detailed.
Cameos have been carved since ancient times and Bullmouth Shell has always been popular in use as a base for Cameo carvings due to its beautiful natural patterning.
The centre Cameo measures approx. 35m height x 27mm width. The Cameo carving makes good use of Bullmouth Shell’s natural colour, showcasing a raised female figure profile in white colour against contrasting brown background. The beautiful simple add personality and character.
